Bluffton Football History


Bluffton football program was once a football program not to be messed with. When Under head coach Carlin Carpenter dean of Ohio football had the longest active at 24 years. Carpenter had 100 career wins while he was a head football coach for the Beavers that is the most ever by any coach here. He was also named co- coach of the year after the 2000 season when the beaver’s won a share of the HCAC title. While under Coach Carpenter the beavers were also nationally ranked, and went to the national playoffs.

Elbert Dubenion” Golden Wheels” was the only player from Bluffton College to go pro. He set many records for the Bluffton Beavers during his time of playing 1955-1958. Many people in the community know of him. He went on to play for the Buffalo Bills as a wide receiver and broke numerous records there too. Elbert Dubenion was the real deal even though not many people got to see him play he made his mark on the NFL. While at Bluffton, he had one of the greatest coaches in Bluffton history, Carlin Carpenter. Bluffton football program has a lot of great history with the school. There are a lot of things that people may not know about the beavers.
